24AI's Desktop and Mobile Platforms Complete Redesign in Just 1.5 Months

Product Introduction, Target Audience, and Competitors

We started with a detailed research of the service, target audience, and competitors. It turned out that the majority of our target audience are sellers on marketplaces who promote their own products. Their task is to create attractive product images using simple and accessible services. Therefore, deeep focused specifically on the needs of such clients.

Next, we analysed the 24AI community on Telegram and, based on the comments, identified the most troublesome stages for users:

  • Subscribing and renewing the subscriptions.
  • Describing the request after uploading an image
  • Finding the location of the generated image.
  • Logging into the service via phone number.
  • Creating a new generation using the settings of the previous one.

Users recognised the product’s benefits but didn’t understand how to use it. Our team assumed that the reason for these difficulties was the lack of an intuitive user flow.

We also studied more than 15 alternative products. All of them have a highly technological interface and offer a manual or onboarding. However, most services lack image post-processing tools. As a result, the users and competitors analysis led to the conclusion: it is necessary to add a post-processing feature to 24AI so that the service stands out against its counterparts. This will allow not only image generation but also perfecting them.

Comprehensive Analytics

After studying the 24AI audience, we mapped out their journey and conducted a review of the interface for UX/UI errors based on these scenarios. A UX audit revealed incoherence of the interface which often led users back to previous screens. Additionally, there was a lack of prompts and further recommendations for image generation.

Once the hypotheses were formulated, we began confirming them using web analytics. We collected metrics from the current product and then conducted in-depth interviews with the customer and stakeholders. This helped us identify four parameters to measure the redesign efficiency: conversion to subscription, repeated sessions, time spent on site, and depth of viewing.

After reviewing over 200 sessions, some hypotheses were confirmed: users were performing many unnecessary actions and making mistakes, and they were spending more time than necessary on certain pages. Therefore, developing a well-thought-out user flow became our top priority.

Ending Point

  • Main page: Now transformed into a clear and compelling interface where users can easily test the service using our examples. The variety of examples emphasises the versatility of the service.
  • Pricing section: a single button provides all the essential information: total and remaining credits (generated images) and days left on the subscription. We also completely renovated the registration screen to improve the payment process with bank cards.
  • Bulk image generation. This feature:
  1. Saves users' time and effort;
  2. Increases the likelihood of continued service use due to seeing more successful results;
  3. Leads to an increase in average spending as users utilised more credits for better outcomes.
  • A redesigned workspace with expanded page space. Now, unnecessary elements do not distract, and choosing the right options has become more convenient.
  • Image generation with multiple products simultaneously. We facilitated the feature by easy layer management such as moving layers to the front or back, centering, and undo options.
  • An improved gallery for faster performance: We simplified the grid, introduced mouse-hover options and multi-select, which speed up the process and allow operations on multiple images simultaneously.
  • Expanded functionality: image correction, ready-made templates, and post-processing, distinguish the service from competitors.
  • Enhanced favourites page: Now it briefly displays settings for each image and allows users to easily copy settings or remove an image from favourites.
  • Refined wording: we maximised the use of intuitive icons over text wherever possible, making the interface more user-friendly and accessible for the target audience.
  • In the mobile version, we made the 'Go' button for generating images fixed during scrolling, encouraging users to use their credits more frequently and thus increasing the average transaction value.

Thus, the team created a user interface that doesn’t require training materials. User behaviour analysis shows that newcomers adapt to the service more quickly, despite the lack of explicit onboarding. Users are less likely to navigate back to previous pages and spend less time achieving their goals, while the number of tasks performed remains consistent.

Maximising Optimisation

We value business resources. Taking into account our clients' needs, we strive to save them time, money, and optimise their efforts.

Problem: A significant portion of the target audience used the mobile version, which was extremely difficult to use. As a result, users would leave when they began using the app.

Solution: We chose the optimal solution for the client, saving both budget and time. Instead of developing a separate app, we adapted the service for mobile devices: Creating a full-fledged app within a browser that looks and feels like a mobile app.

Parallel Design Processes

  • Our team was involved in the redesign, working on the more complex aspects.
  • At the same time, we coordinated with the client on aspects they could adjust by themselves. For this, we conducted calls and assisted the client’s team with minor tweaks that did not involve restructuring the service.

New Features — New Monetisation Opportunities

We developed seven widgets from scratch, including functions to extend or remove the background, remove watermarks, enhance image quality, and add infographics. As a result, the company evolved from a standard image generation service into a multi-service platform.

This made 24AI unique and comprehensive: Users do not need to switch to other platforms to fully prepare an image for the marketplace. Additionally, thanks to the widgets, the number of service users increased.

Key Metrics Boost

After comprehensive analytics of the target audience, user flow, and a review of the interface for UX/UI errors, we captured metrics from the current product, and then conducted in-depth interviews with the client and stakeholders. This helped us identify four parameters for assessing the redesign’s effectiveness: Conversion to a paid subscription, repeat sessions, time on site, and engagement depth.

After the new design release, we measured the indicators and obtained the following data:

The updated interface addresses the user needs identified during UX research, and this has had a positive impact on key metrics.

Project Outcomes

Improved Subscription Conversion

Boosted conversion to subscription by up to 20%, and increased four key business metrics.

Enhanced User Experience and Market Position

This redesign not only enhanced the visual and operational aspects of 24AI but also significantly improved its market position by making it more accessible and user-friendly.

Cost-Effective Mobile Adaptation

Developed a mobile version of the service efficiently, without substantial time or financial costs.

The new design undoubtedly brought us closer to our ultimate goal, helped us retain customers, and made our service more user-friendly without the need for explicit onboarding or tutorials. The enhanced pricing list reduced bounce rates and boosted sales and the average order value. We sincerely thank all the team members who contributed to this project for their outstanding effort, enthusiasm, and fantastic results.
